Native English Teachers

James

James is a co-director of Rivercity English School. James helped found Rivercity Playgroup in spring 2005 after teaching English in Japan since 1990. Rivercity aims to give its students a love for learning through playing and doing activities. James is always pleased to meet with parents who are interested in English education and talk with them about the curriculum. 'Rivercity English School offers English classes for adults and children. The teachers encourage students to speak English as much as possible during their lessons. They choose topics of conversation individuals are interested in so they can practice talking naturally with a trained teacher to provide guidance in any areas of difficulty. Rivercity believes that education is extremely important to society and that learning to communicate effectively will greatly improve your professional life.

Divina

Divina has been teaching in Japan for more than 12 years. She has an exellent teaching technique. She has small children's classes and adult classes. She likes teaching beginner students through to business students. She studies Japanese language and culture every day so she can manage her classes well with her Japanese students. Divina is popular among our students for her personality, enthusiasm and good teaching techniques.

Kevin is from Scotland. He has a wealth of experience teaching Junior High School and High School students, as well as younger children and adults. He always gives 100% in the lesson and he loves his students to try and give him their 100% too. He loves having fun, joking and smiling and there is always a feel-good, winning mentality in his classes.

Eli is from the U.S.A. She attended university in Seattle and she also studied at Sophia University so she is very familiar with Japan and Japanese culture. She is creative and efficient working in pre-school, and is able to patiently communicate with all the children. She has a great smile and a nice personality.

Julien is from Melbourne, Australia. He has been teaching English to children and adult students in Japan since 2005, and most of his students have studied with him for over two or three years. He is consistent, supportive and cares about his students.

Tracy is from Ireland. She is an ACELS qualified teacher. She has been teaching in Japan since 2008. Tracy can teach English to students of various ages and she can also provide care and support to young learners. She encourages students to actively particiapte in class.

Tom is from Ireland. He has experience teaching preschool and adult english classes. Tom has a strong interest in sports and music. He is very friendly and enjoys teaching english. He interacts with the students easily and comfortably. He is patient and has great enthusiasm when it comes to teaching english. He enjoys talking with students and parents.

Assistant Teachers

Hiromi joined our team in April 2007. She is a certified physical education teacher who enjoys aerobics and dancing. Hiromi has a bright and friendly personality and is able to communicate with the students' parents very well. She is also a great support for little children and helps to contribute to our happy school environment.

Noriko is a licensed preschool teacher who has more 6 years work experience in a Japanese nursery school. She is very patient with children and observes children carefully so they are safe and having a good time. She is a gentle lady with a nice personality - she also loves scuba diving and enjoyed scuba diving in Australia.

Mika's teaching experience includes working in a kindergarten in Australia where she gained valuable insight into early childhood learning. Mika is very good with younger children and they love learning to speak English by playing games and doing activities with her.

Chiho has been teaching our Sunday classes since April 2010.  She majored in early learning education in University. She is familiar with early child education environments as she has nearly 4 years experience in Japan as well as in Australia. She has a naturally friendly personality and interacts with the students easily and comfortably.

Fumi has experience working in a major English conversation school and as a piano instructor. Fumi went to Australia with a working holiday visa to do some baby sitting work while taking a child English instructor training course. She enjoys teaching children at our school and she is popular with the preshoolers.

Megumi went to Darwin, Australia on the JENESYS Programme for one year to teach Australian children Japanese in English. She had studied education at the same time she played soccer at Tokyo Gakugei University. We often hear a nice singing voice from our classroom as she has experience being a recording artist for a professional singer and she also enjoys singing in a band.

Ayumi has a music education background and she went to Canada to take an internship course for the Toronto Music festival. Preschool children enjoy playing with her especially when it comes to music and movement time. She has a sweet personality and creates a fun atmosphere in the class room.

Momo is our Saturday preschool teacher. She feels studying the language is important as she had an opportunity to learn about language education in a developing country. She has experience teaching English and Japanese to primary to junior high school students in a cram school. She is familiar with current international affairs as her week day job is related to the fileld of international economy.

Tamaki

Tamaki is a co-director of Rivercity English School. Tamaki developed an interest in the English language through hosting students and being an exchange student herself while attending elementary school and high school. Tamaki continued studying abroad through her university years and is committed to providing good opportunities to people who are interested in studying English. Tamaki has a creative curriculum certificate from Child Care Solutions and is happy to provide guidance to parents and students.

School Manager

Keiko
Keiko joined our school in April 2006. She has experience teaching children how to use computers after attaining a national qualification and working in the IT industry. She also assists with rhythmic classes and childcare for a not-for-profit organization. She is very excited to be part of Rivercity's team and enjoys teaching children, assisting in preschool classes. She has a creative curriculum certificate from Child Care Solutions. Also trained in dance and choreography, Keiko has an excellent perspective of training, leadership and teamwork.

Yasuko joined our school in September 2006. She graduated with qualifications in a child minding program at technical school. Yasuko's professional experience also includes working as a preschool manager and teacher. As a natural communicator she is able to explain to parents the events of their child's day. Yasuko has a creative curriculum certificate from Child Care solutions.
