A lot of our students are simultaneously attending a nearby nursery school.
This class focuses on creativity and the love of learning that the Creative Curriculum offers. It also gives children international exposure, English language and critical thinking skills. Children are able to repeat hundreds of words through roleplay, games, music, and interaction with native and Japanese teachers. They also become aware of social responsibilities and how to manage themselves. Because most of these students have already had experience in our Preschool program, our Preschool Advanced class will offer them new challenges.
Curriculum Goals speaking clearly and naturally
This is a great time to mimic sounds and memorize relationships of letters and sounds（phonemes and phonics).
Well balanced activities
Children feel good while they are creating, art helps boost self-confidence and individuality. As well as learning English, children will also gain fine motor skills. Grasping pencils, crayons, chalk and paintbrushes helps children develop their fine motor muscles; moreover, this development will help your child with writing, buttoning a coat and other tasks. Creativity also fosters mental growth in children by providing opportunities for trying out new ideas, and new ways of thinking and problem-solving.
Role play is an important part of child development, as it builds confidence, creativity communication, physical development and problem-solving. Following our monthly themes, the children will pretend to play certain characters and act out possible real life situations.
Using a journal, children study how to write neatly as they get a wider understanding of the letters, words and phonics.
Children will diligently study for two hours with creative activities. They are studying letter/sound recognition, learning to read through phonetic understanding, memorizing sight words, and starting free reading from Graded Readers. They are also gaining logic with science and math exercises, using their own thinking to solve problems and answer questions, and are starting to form their own ideas and opinions. As they are communicating with each other in English, they will also keep a journal and workbook to practice writing and self-expression.
In Kinderschool Advanced, we do a lot more CD training to improve English Pronunciation, to make sure that it sounds natural. On occasion we will watch English movies and clips, as well as working on advanced graded readers where they can read as many as 20 books by themselves in one session. We will also create groups to practice speaking with the teacher and other students.
Based on the student’s English ability, the teachers will recommend which class would be best suited for the student. If there is a beginner and he/she is behind their peers, we will recommend to take at least two classes a week to help them catch up.
At times, teachers will recommend that your child be moved up to a more intensive challenging class. If Kinderschool is too easy, they will be asked to be placed in Advanced Kinderschool.
Curriculum goal writing, intonation, pronunciation and phonics.
So that children can be able to read fluently by themselves, we heavily concentrate on teaching Phonemes, Phonics, Writing and Memorizing Vocabulary.
Well balanced activities
Because art helps boost self-confidence and individuality, we make sure to provide well-balanced activities and arts & crafts for the children. The rhythmic CDs the school has adopted give children a chance to gain beautiful pronunciation by copying native speakers. They learn how to give self introductions and state their preferences and ideas by standing in front of class and giving a mini presentation. They practice writing in workbooks and reading hundreds of graded readers.
Science and Math
Using logic and scientific method of hypothesis followed by testing and observation develops the brain. The Creative curriculum benchmarks in this area include measuring, comparing, repeating patterns, spatial awareness and ability to transfer knowledge to new situations.
