Rivercity has a great balance of Native English teachers from various countries and qualifications. Japanese teachers with a passion for childcare have qualifications from nursery school certificates to JETTA or J-Shine and so on. Effective communication between the Native and Japanese teachers help make the lessons run more smoothly.

Matt
Hello Everyone, my name is Matt. I have been teaching in Japan since 1990 and co-founded Rivercity with my wife Tamaki in 2005. We are very happy with the quality of The Creative Curriculum and know it can make a difference in the lives of children. I am always ready to meet with parents who are interested in English education. The school has developed a set of CDs which cover essential grammar, common words and phrases and is age related, and we find them a high value aid in all our classes.

Joy
Now living in Japan, Joy spent many years in London and joined RES in 2011. She has a BA degree and is TESOL qualified. In fact she she keeps attending lectures and seminars and is an exceptional, caring and thoughtful teacher. Joy loves teaching very young kids through to adult English class and is highly appreciated by those who work and study with her. Well come on kids, what are you waiting for – Lets learn!

Jenya
Jenya has over 10 years of experience teaching English from baby classes to business English classes. Jenya is a native of Russia and Ukraine, and has lived in the U.S. from the age of 6 until she graduated from university. She is very good at keeping the children’s interest with fast-paced lessons that incorporate lots of fun activities. Jenya is able to communicate in Japanese to support non-English speaking parents if necessary.

Marisse
Marisse grew up in an environment with close ties to Japan as her father used to work in Japan. She has an MBA from the University of the Philippines. During her three years of teaching English from toddlers to working professionals, she worked diligently to provide the maximum learning experience for her students. She is a popular instructor among students and is able to assess the level of her students and provide accurate instruction.

Kabita
With over 8 years of experience as a head teacher at an English school, Kabita has taught students from a variety of backgrounds and age groups. Currently, she teaches English to children in public elementary schools as an ALT.
She is a highly motivated teacher who is passionate about early childhood education and English education. In her personal life, she is a mother and so has experience raising a child herself. She is a friendly and cheerful teacher who loves children.

Misha
Misha is from Nepal, currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree here in Japan. Misha grew up in an English speaking environment and international schools in Nepal. Misha is a compassionate and enthusiastic teacher who has a positive impact on her student’s speed in learning English. She enjoys interacting with children and encourages students to actively participate in class.

Nadia
Nadia is from Malaysia. She came to Japan following her 2 children who are here to further their studies. She has worked as a teacher assistant in a children daycare center and kindergarten back in Malaysia. Nadia feels that kids are brilliant and it’s fun to play and be around them. It gives her a great satisfaction seeing children learn and improve.

Shion
Shion grew up in a bilingual household with American and Japanese parents. At university, she studied liberal arts in English, where she developed her ability to communicate, think, and express herself in English. Shion loves teaching children and is good at motivating them by talking to them in English.

Frances
Frances has been teaching English for over 5 years and is flexible to different teaching styles. She has worked in international schools, English school, and kindergarten, and has also taught English at public elementary and junior high schools as an Assistant Language Teacher. She is passionate and enthusiastic about teaching English to young children, and excels at encouraging children to actively participate in her lessons.

Gali
Gali has over 5 years of experience teaching Spanish and English to children ages 1-15. She teaches preschool and advanced preschool at Rivercity English School and hopes to help children continuously express themselves through creativity and become confident communicating in English.

Noriko
Noriko has lived in Singapore for 10 years. She is a licensed nursery school teacher and she has 8 years experience in a public Kindergarten in Japan. She enjoys working with children and loves seeing them grow!

Manami loves helping children learn and using her English skills with them. She enjoys using The Creative Curriculum to see how they are developing!

Mayumi
Mayumi used to live in the states during her elementary and high school years.
First of all, what one likes, one will do well. She would like all children who come to RES to experience the fun of communicating in English and also to help them build confidence.
She encourages students to have fun learning English at RES!

Mari
Mari started learning English when she was in kindergarten, and has been on a study abroad program in the United States. She loves to talk to small children in English, and as an active mother of a two-year-old, she is able to understand the children well and to take good care of them.

Haruna
Having traveled to sixty countries on seven continents, including Antarctica and the North Pole, Haruna values the diversity of English that she has experienced firsthand. With her experience as a tour guide for a major travel agency and as an English teacher at an exam preparation school, she is able to work closely with the children to ensure smooth and safe lessons. Her natural cheerfulness makes not only the children but also our teachers smile.

Yasue
Yasue has worked for major foreign companies for many years, where she communicated in fluent English on a daily basis with her foreign boss. She grew up trilingual in Japanese, English, and Chinese. and is also a mother of a child who is studying at a foreign university. Yasue is good at motivating children.

Haruna
Hello. My name is Haruna. I work as one of the office managers at Rivercity English School. I spent my childhood in Chicago. Now, I am a mother of two girls and I use both Japanese and English at home. I will help the students choose the right courses and settle into their classes. Feel free to come visit us.

Miyoh

Hello. My name is Noriko. I am a Japanese language instructor, and I teach Japanese to foreign students. I enjoy learning English and communicating in the English environment. Tamaki
Hello my name is Tamaki. I am a co-director of Rivercity English School. I developed an interest in the English language through hosting students and being an exchange student myself while attending elementary school and high school. I graduated from Boston University. I attended University in Hawaii for nearly two years and studied in the University of Seville in Spain for one year. I have a Creative Curriculum certificate from Child Care Solutions, a Jolly Phonics certificate from Jolly Learning Ltd and obtained a Baby Sign Language teacher’s certificate. I became interested in education while raising a bilingual daughter and am happy to provide guidance to parents and students.
